In my previous Top Ten Tuesday posts, I talked about how I usually have trouble following the prompt, but not today! I soon as I saw this week’s prompt, I immediately knew what I wanted to write. So, without further ado, here are ten of my favorite book quotes. Some are dialogues between characters, while most are simple thoughts that the main characters have, and all of these quotes have stuck with me through the years.
And I have the distinct impression that it will never happen. That time and distance will wear away at our feelings for each other, leaving nothing but stark reality and fond memories. And that’s probably all we were ever meant to have.
— The Simple Wild, KA Tucker
Arin’s face changed. “Kestrel, forgive me.” “There’s nothing to forgive.” “I’m so sorry.” “I don’t care.” He shook his head, eyes not leaving hers. He was wholly altered now, quiet with surprise, alive with some new idea. He touched fingertips to her cheek, traced the path of a tear. “But you do,” he said wonderingly.
— The Winner’s Kiss, Marie Rutkoski
Looking back on it, it’s weird thinking about the moments you don’t realize are important. The sentences, the touches, the actions that seem so innocent in that second, you take them for granted. The words that make water into wine in the course of your life.
— Dear Aaron, Mariana Zapata
I loved him in a way that you really can only do the first time around. It’s the kind of love that doesn’t know better, and doesn’t want to- it’s dizzy, and foolish and fierce. That kind of love is really a one-time-only thing.
— We’ll Always Have Summer, Jenny Han
“The heart wants what it wants,” Cam says, watching me steadily. “But sometimes what you think is love is just a beautiful form of self-destruction. The worst thing in life is to give yourself away in exchange for nothing.”
— Melt For You, JT Geissinger
That what you’ve always had doesn’t mean that’s what you’ll always get. That what you’ve always wanted isn’t what you’ll always want.
— What I Thought Was True, Huntley Fitzpatrick
Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.
— Clockwork Angel, Cassandra Clare
We accept the love we think we deserve.
— Perks of being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky
Not long ago I heard someone ask a friend, If you had to live your life over again, what would you do differently? I’ve thought about this, and for me, I’d like to live my life over again backward. I’d like to live in a world where tomorrow would be yesterday, the day after tomorrow two days ago, and so on, because now I have little interest in the future.
— My Sergei, Ekaterina Gordeeva
And sometimes, it doesn’t matter what anyone tells you to think or feel, your own mind and heart will decide for you and make an inarguable case against any sort of logic or reason.
— What’s Broken Between Us, Alexis Bass
What about you? What are your favorite book quotes?

These are some lovely quotes! I tend to only write down ones about books and reading. I’m going to have to be better about writing down passages that are just beautiful and interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Happy TTT!

I’m the same as you. Normally I have such a hard time following prompts, and I’m always tossing in a little twist. But not with this one! I love the quotes you chose to include. That quote from The Simple Wild, though, hits hard.
